  • SSS on Renderable Curve

Currently, wondering if there are any known limitations with Maya and Vray renderablecurves? I'm trying to render a bowl of noodles with SSS and the GI is giving strange results. SSS doesn't seem to work at all? Also, spec reflections on FastSSS are a little out of control.

Is this polygonal? have you generated those with the paint effect or with extrusion? Can you attach a sample scene?

They are Maya curves rendered with the vRay RenderableCurve Attributes
It didn't want to accept the maya binary file, so I uploaded to my server.

You were right there is something we need to fix, I reported the issue in our bug tracking system. For now, as a workaround, you can extrude geometry from those splines that you can use with the same shader or use AlSurface shader instead.

Yeah its not ideal but you might attached paint effects brush to the curve and mesh it to tube, it should give you nice geo of the curve.

Ah the AlSurface! I should have thought of that! I would extrude, except that they are dynamic curves in a simulation.. thanks for looking into it for me!
