Hello...
I've been trying to setup a zDepth channel for a physically small scene in Maya 2018.5 with V-Ray Next. The vrayRE_Z_depth setting for Depth Black and White do nothing to change the results of zDepth channel. As the two objects in the attached scene are nearly identical in the white value and the background (nothing) is just black. If I scale the camera down it allows some range, or if I scale up the objects in the scene, but the depth range results are still poor or suffer banding. Not sure what to do to get this to work. I've tried adjust the clipping settings in the camera, but it hasn't helped much either. The physical camera settings are much easier to deal and give great results, but this is a 4K project where we need to introduce DOF in Nuke with EXRs. From what I can tell VRay zDepth passes do not deal well with small scale scenes, or I am missing a step somewhere. If I need to scale things up this is time to know before we get to rigging. Thanks in advance.
