  • V-ray Next for Maya 2019, GPU cuda not available

I've applied update 1 to Next for Maya 2019. Also logged in as root and ran the "vray_gpu_device_select" service to set the GPU (titan X). But GPU/cuda rendering is not available in render settings. Anything else that needs to be set?

What is the OS that you are using? Please note that V-Ray GPU works only with C++/CPU devices under macOS.

Mac OS 10.13.6. The first version of NEXT worked just fine with GPU in Maya 2018.

You can enable the option by setting the environment variable VRAY_MAC_GPU to 1 in your Maya.env file.
The Cuda engine is still supported on Mac OS by Chaos Group, and it works nicely here

To add: it appears that update 1 to NEXT has broken GPU rendering for me, even in Maya 2018. In Maya 2018, I can select GPU rendering, but when trying to render, it completely hangs after "compiling kernels for device GeForce GTX TITAN X"

Muhammed_Hamed thanks for that reminder - that did enable CUDA rendering. I guess the compiling kernels step was a one-time thing?

Yeah, it happens once I think, then rendering should be instant.
