  • VrayVolumeGrid for rendering liquid - how to assign water-material?

    Hello,

is it possible to use a VolumeGrid to render Water?
I think it must, but I wasn't able to do it.

I tested today PhoenixFD and cached out a liquid simulation as OpenVDB, but when I use VrayVolumeGrid node to import, I only can render it solid (third object on the test render).

I tried to assign also in different ways a water vray material, but it doesn't render.
How to do it, is there a tutorial?
I only saw one for smoke.

    Thanks

    Hey,

Assigning a material for the Volume Grid is the same as for Phoenix.

In order to get the same result as in Phoenix and render a Liquid, set the render mode to Mesh, set the Surface Channel to Liquid/Temperature, set the Isosurface level to 0.5.
Then right-click on the Volume Grid and Assign your Material.
