  • Fast SSS from version 3.6 does not render in vray next

I'm confused about what is happening. I have a fast SSS2 shader from v3.6 that was not using multiple scattering (apparently those options are no longer supported in next according to the manual) and when I render the scene my SSS AOV renders completely black. What's more strange, the beauty looks pretty much the same as my old 3.6 render yet without the sss AOV being present. Can anyone explain what could be going on ? I'm using the sss AOV for some things in compositing so not having that AOV available is bad. What do I need to do in order to transfer the look (even 80%) of my old fast SSS2 shader into v-ray next ?

I'm currently on v ray next update 1.1

I presume the issue is caused by the changes made to the VRayFastSSS2Mtl in recent builds (you can read more about that in the technical documentation). You might want to check if you have the 'Multiple Scattering' option (VRayFastSSS2>Options) deactivated. If that doesn't help, it would be best to send a simple scene, where the issue can be reproduced to support@chaosgroup.com for further analysis. Mention this forum thread as well.
