  • triplanar vs non triplanar displacement

A quick question regarding the method used for vray tri-planar node and displacement. If I drop a file texture into the vray displacement node withit set to 2d displacment, I get a result, but if I use a triplanar on 2d I get nothing. If I switch to "normal displacement" I get results. Is this how its meant to work? File texture = 2d displacement (which Ive always done) and file texture into vray tri-planar into displacement = normal displacement?

Im using Maya 2019 and Vray next

You should use the normal displacement type since the 2D Displacement type cannot be used for textures that use object or world coordinates, which in your case is the triplanar texture. You can read more about the 2D displacement in the technical documentation here: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cement+Control
