  • Best way to avoid broken hairs in rendering with Next upgrade 1

    Hello VRay Community,

I'm trying the rendering of hairs in VRay and I have a question.
I have an rendering issue with hairs Yeti and Vray. I use VRayMtlHair3 (more easy for non realistic result) and I have somes broken hairs in my rendering for the thin hairs. I tried to increase the min AA sample (2 then 4 then 6 then 8 and the result in the same.
When I look the AOVs, the diffuse seems OK but not the light, GI and spec, so I tried to increase the global mult in DMC (X2 then X3) but the result was the same.
The only way I find in order to resolve my problem is to set the segment lenght in the VRay tab of the Yeti shapeof my cache to 1 (instead 4 by default). Dynamique tesselation is always checked ON during my test. The resultat (for all the hairs) is very smooth and nice, I don't have any broken hairs but my render time explode (X2.5).
I tried to subdivide more the hairs in the Yeti graph (X6) but the problem is still here.
I see the "minimum hairs width" in the override tab but there is no difference.
I used VRay next upgrade 1 and the DMC had changed (there are fewer knobs than before). Maya is the last upgrade of 2018. Yeti is the last upgrade.

What is the best way in order to render hairs in VRay next upgrade 1 without artefact?

    Thank by advance,

    Best regards

    Edouard

Best you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com along with the specific V-Ray, Maya, and Yeti versions so we can take a look. Mention this thread in the e-mail as well.
