  • Overlapping Clipper Error

    Hello,

I found some Bugs with the Vray Clipper with the Nightly Vray Next Update 2 (v4.30.00 from Nov 18 2019)

Basically I want to Duplicate an object and give them diffrent Materials and then animate it with the clipper(no mesh mode), like masking them.

But I doesn't work like expected.

    - the first two Pictures show what happens if the Two Objects have an offset. It works like expected in the CPU Mode but has some Lines in the GPU Mode
    - the last two Pictures show what happens if the two Objects are at the same Position

I sent the Scene to your Support.

    Cheers

Thanks for the provided scene. Overlapping faces are a known limitation of the VRayClipper and would not work the way you would like at this point. Rather than using a VRayClipper to achieve this effect, you may use a VRaySwitchMtl with a Ramp (V ramp to make a horizontal border and no interpolation) as the 'switch' map. For that, however, you would need to fix your UVs so that the Ramp is mapped accordingly.

Thanks Aleksandar for the info, I keep that in mind for further Projects. I also had something like your solution with the VraySwitchMaterial in mind.

      Cheers!
