  • XGen and light-linking in Maya not working correctly?

Hello. We're using Maya 2018.2 and V-Ray 4.04.02 on Windows and are wondering if there is an issue with light-linking and XGen vrscene caches?

We have light linking for our rim light setup which all XGen assets receive. However, we recently tried to add a light to only one of the characters through light-linking and found that ALL the cached XGen fur received the new light despite the fact that only the single character should have. We deleted the vrscene XGen caches which caused hair to be calculated at rendertime and in that case the light-linking was correctly obeyed: the new light only shone on the one character as expected

Question: is there an issue where light linking is ignored when rendering XGen fur cached to a vrscene file?
    Thanks.

This seems to be a bug. Light linking doesn't work when the xgen hair is cached to a vrscene file.
I've added a note for our developers, you can quote VMAYA-9148 in the future to get updates on our progress (this is our internal issue ID).
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
