  • V-Ray Toon not working with Orthographic/Isometric Camera

I'm attempting to render a scene with a V-Ray Orthographic Camera (I'm creating an isometric view), but the V-Ray Toon lines don't render at all once the Orthographic option is turned on in my camera. I'm also having artifacts appear in the render, not on every frame, but on quite a few in an animation. See the attached image for an example. I've gotten around it via just using a really high focal length instead of the orthographic option now, but I guess its a bug of some sort.

    I'm using the V-Ray 4.3 Next in Maya 2018...

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Yes this looks like a bug in V-Ray. Can you please send us a scene reproducing the problem? We can give you a secure upload location if needed. If not possible - your VRayToon settings and whether you have mirrors and refractive objects in the scene, plus screenshots how it looks with a low-fov camera vs orthographic.

    Thanks.

Best you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look. Mention this thread in the e-mail as well.

Thanks for the report and the provided files. The issue seems to occur with a VRay Physical camera attribute and an activated orthographic mode. I've logged it (internal bug-tracking id: VMAYA-9217) for our developers to investigate. You may disable the attribute as a workaround.

Was a resolution found for this issue? I am trying to render with VrayToon on a Spherical Panorama camera and it fails to show any outlines.

mitch_peacock It seems to work fine from what I tested. Could you attach a simple scene here or send one to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail along with your V-Ray and host platform versions.
