  • Trying to slave my studio workstation from home via Hamachi.

As in the title. I want to use DR with my studio workstation, I installed Hamachi on both and connected to them together. After whole day of tries and fixes I managed to ping them without any issues - Hamachi shows no errors whatsoever. Before I fully solved Hamachi errors V-Ray was giving me the following message:
// Warning: V-Ray : Could not connect to host ************: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. //
// Warning: V-Ray : Could not use any of the selected (1) hosts for distributed rendering! //

Then I fixed it by playing aroun with Windows Firewall etc. so the error changed to something like:
//The machine is refusing the access <<<<<<<- or something like this.
// Warning: V-Ray : Could not use any of the selected (1) hosts for distributed rendering! //

Now when I checked it again the previous error with a socket is back.
What do you think I am missing?

I am on Windows 10 HOME and studio workstation has Pro edition.

Quick update: I can slave my home laptop from the studio workstation so I guess it is something about the studio machine blocking the incoming connections? Is it because they are all plugged directly to our local server??

Hey Bobby, sorry I think I wasn't clear enough. Controlling machine is not a problem either with Remote Desktop or via Team Viewer (a bit laggier but more stable). I want to use DR and use the office workstation as slave node for my home laptop.

Can you ping the IP of the machine you're connecting to? If you use some standard form of VPN this should not be a problem. In most cases it's a firewall thing. What's the OS on the DR machine and your machine?

Also, this whole setup sounds like it could be potentially very slow for rendering, because of the whole lag of transferring data over the internet

Yea, I got it working a few years back. Isn't worth the effort really. It's suuuper slow.
German guy, sorry for my English.

Hey, thank you for replies. I previously contacted ChaosGroup help desk and we couldn't really solve it, though I tried both hamachi and VPN, could ping and telnet my home machine and studio workstation back and forth with no problems. I also opened all the possible ports in Firewall that came to my mind. The only error I was receing was Permission error when I tried to slave my workstation from home, although it WORKED the other way... And I agree with my slow internet at the moment is wasn't a greatest idea since the beginning.
