  • User Render Presets Won't Load

For the last year or so, I've been unable to load my Vray user render presets. I'm using Maya 2019 and the latest version of Vray, but like I said this goes back a while, to Maya 2018 and prior versions of Vray. I've deleted my User Prefs folder during that time with no change in behavior.

When I try to use one of my presets, it gives the error below. I tried unloading the Redshift plugin but then it just throws the same error but references Arnold instead. If I then unload the Arnold plugin, it goes back to referencing the Redshift plugin even though it's unloaded.

I have followed advice given in other threads on this topic about deleting any arnold/redshift nodes in the outliner, running "optimize scene" etc to get rid of any reference to other render engines to no avail. It sill refuses to load my Vray presets. For what it's worth, when I load up Redshift, I can use those presets no problem, this is ONLY affecting Vray.

    Here's the error I get:

// Error: file: C:/ProgramData/Redshift/Plugins/Maya/Common/scripts/override/2019/createMayaSoftwareCommonGlobalsTab.mel line 43: setParent: Object 'commonTabColumn' not found. //
    Error in setParentToCommonTab setParent commonTabColumn

    updateRendererUI (file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2019/scripts/others/supportRenderers.mel, line 117).

when vray installs itself it modifies this script unifiedRenderGlobalsWindow.mel and saves a backup i believe. Look in maya install dir and see if you can restore the original scripts, perhaps something got corrupted.

Thanks for the help! I did find a backup of that file in the same folder, but it's very small compared to the current (6k vs 60k) and when I restored it as the primary, the Render Globals window wouldn't even open and it threw an error.

hmm I would recommend reinstalling maya or getting these files from another maya install if you have a different machine then.
