  • Light has "outline" when set to invisible

    Hi,

So I´m creating an interior scene and I ran into the problem, that even when I set a light to "invisible" it has some sort of outline around it when rendering the image (see image bleow). It´s very subtle but when rendering at a large scale it gets realy annoying.
First I thought I could solve this with the help of exlude lists but no success there . Any suggestions?

    Kind regards and happy rendering

    Hey there,

What V-Ray version is this? Is the light intersecting with the geometry?

Could you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail along with your V-Ray and host platform versions.

So I´m using V-Ray Version 3.60.40 and Maya 2018. Just cheked again but there is no overlap between geometry and light. I just send the scene to V-Ray support so hopefully they can figure it out

Are you using textures on the light? I've found that sometimes I need to un check the "wrap" check box in the UV node of the texture, sometimes it will leave a funny outline. Not like this, but it might be worth trying if you're using a texture for the light.

Thanks for the provided scene. There seems to be a VRayToon effect affecting the scene which causes a visible border around the light shapes. You can create an exclusion set holding the lights so as not to get affected by the toon outlines.
