  • Mayabatch (command line) not starting

    Hi,

I have a curious problem I never experienced before.
Working with Maya 2019.2 and Vray update 2.2.

I have a scene that renders fine in Maya. When I want to batch render via command line, it doesn't start on my workstation, it reads the line that is in the batch text file, and goes to the next line :/ no error message or anything similar.
On the render nodes it works very well. There is something weird on the workstation. I tried twice to re-instal Vray + phoenixFD, but nothing changes. For now, I didn't try to re-install Maya, or worse, the complete workstation.
Batch render via maya interface also ends right away
    (// Rendering with V-Ray... //
    // Rendering Completed. See mayaRenderLog.txt for information. // ).

Any idea if I can resolve that without doing a fresh install of everything ?

I guess the answer is to make a fresh install.

I'm still having the issue, even after doing a clean install of Maya/Vray/PhoenixFD. Right after Maya/Vray install, I tested and it worked. After a few work hours, again it didn't work. I suspect a Windows issue, but have no clue where to look.
    Windows 10, Maya 2019.2

When trying to batch render (command line), the render start and stop immediately saying it has been completed. No log file, no error message.

    Any idea please?

Could you share the code with which you start the rendering through the command line? Also, check if your workstation's environment variables match the ones on the working nodes. Check if it happens with other render engines as well.

        Hi Aleksandar,

        Thanks for your feedback. I'm running these types of commands: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2019\bin\render.exe" -r vray -proj W:\projets\myproject -cam cam_test6 -s 120 -e 240 -b 3 -x 1920 -y 1080 -im myimages W:\projets\myproject\scenes\myscene.mb

        In the meanwhile I switched to vray standalone batch command: vray -sceneFile="W:\projets\myproject\myscene.vrscene" -imgFile="W:\projets\myproject\images\myimages.#.ex r" -imgWidth=1920 -imgHeight=1080 -skipExistingFrames=1 -display=1 -autoClose=1 -frames=156-240,1
which works nicely. I might also switch my workflow to this, as it's quite easier with the "skipExistingFrames".

I will check the environment variables on the different nodes and test with another render engine, as you suggested.

        cheers.

It seems to be a common issue from what I've researched. Check if it happens without additional third-party plugins and if 'Render.exe' has access permissions as well.

when I launch Render -h nothing happens either. I checked the paths on working and not working machine, they seem the same.
Deleted QuadRemesher from the plug-ins (no other plugins except Laubwerk, Vray and Phoenix). Might Laubwerk create a problem ?

Holy coconut! It's Laubwerk! I uninstalled, cleaned Registry, fresh boot and now it works again.
Now I have to try to install Laubwerk again to see what happens

confirmed! Installed Laubwerk again and Render.exe stopped working. Uninstalled, cleaned, and it works again
Is there anything that can be done ?

I suggest contacting their support. Maybe they have some kind of a solution for this kind of issue.
