  • Animating displacement amount render error in standalone

    Hey guys. Ive got a scene renders fine if I dont keyframe the displacement amount (displacement type - normal) , when I make keyframes (value 0-0.1), it wont render in deadline, but works fine in the framebuffer. Has anyone had any experience keyframing displacement amount? There doesnt seem to be a problem with rendering with animated displacement per se, as Im keyframing the input map colour gain instead and leaving the displacement amount alone.

    Ive tested this in Maya 2018 and 2020 with Vray Next 2.1 and 2.2

    I can't seem to reproduce the issue, neither through Deadline, Maya Batch, or Standalone. Could you send the problematic scene to support@chaosgroup.com (or attach it here) so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail.

      Hey Aleksandar. Attached is an archived Maya file zip folder. I just tested the scene here and if there are keyframes on the displacement node, it wont render, but if I delete the keys it renders fine in deadline. Both ways it renders fine in the framebuffer.

        Thanks for the provided scene. Something seems to be wrong with the particular ramp texture (ramp1) used for displacement. Recreating the ramp seems to make batch/deadline work fine. Try it out and report with feedback.
