  • GPU and texture loading

I just wanted to check, if I have the same texture but applied to multiple materials, the GPU only loads the texture once yeah?

On a related note, does anyone know a way in Maya to instance a file node? Or the best way create similar behavior? When you have one file texture piping into many shaders, as you've suggested, graphing said network can be bulky in the node editor. I'd like it to behave like Nuke and have a small icon to show its an instance of a master file node. Memory efficient, but also clean to graph.

francomanko The texture should be loaded once. You can check the loaded textures in the V-Ray log.

seandunderdale I don't think there is such a Maya feature.
