So, when I use hdri from cgsource or PGskies, any change to the attributes, for example the rotation, causes quite a lag, not just in maya but in ipr rendering etc. Is this normal and if so is there a way to improve it?

okay so i know comparing like this isnt totally fair, and this isnt a post about saying one bit of software is better than the other but the speed difference is just crazy...Im just getting really frustrated with gpu perfomance and am wondering if its maya thats the problem or vray?
Bascially 2 identical scenes, same hdri, just rotated in the RT mode, with a 2080ti. Vray video barely updates at all and the lag is pretty awful. Fstorm seems to fly thro it. (see attached videos)Attached Files

Im used to this being the case....my painful workflow is to build my hdri comp in low res since using high res is painful and only for final rendering. Once I have my low res PSD hdri file done, and my lighting is locked in, I rebuild the whole hdri PSD again but high res. It sucks, but so does rotating an hdri that is 8k+
