  • Compositing Aces in Photoshop help

    Hello,

i have followed this guide to setup aces in vray 5 and maya 2018.

    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Workflow+Setup
    and
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...aces-in-vray-5

and this thread in the modo section on compositing into photoshop

    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...s-in-photoshop.

Im not sure this a maya specific issue or im just doing sometihng wrong, the original thread above is modo specific so i though i would start a new one specific to my issue in the corect forum. Sorry if you feel this is a duplicate post

However i cannot get Muhammed_Hamed 's workflow to work correctly in vray for maya. what is wierd when he opens up the exr i sent in the above thread in VFB for houdini it looks darker and identical to his photoshop workflow, which leads me to believe what im viewing in my vray framebuffer is incorrect, to bright perhaps

i have made a simplified scene attached if anyone wants a look.

With in the image folder there is an exr rendered from vray. a jpg saved out from the VFB that looks identical to what i see in the VFB and a psd using muhammed work flow which seems to be darker than the jpg which is closer to what im seeing in my VFB.

Loose in the project older are the two lookup tables needed for the psd

I was wondering if someone can shed any light on this wierd situation, have i setup aces correctly? am i saving my exr incorrecly? What i find wierd is that the exr looks loaded in his vfb huidini compared to my VFB in maya.

    Link to scene files here

    thanks

    matt

I should imagine most of us have had a hole we've crept back into, i think mine might well be a pit now
