  • RGB channel display in the new VFB

I'm still on the fence about whether the new frame buffer in Vray 5 is an improvement overall, but one thing that definitely seems a step in the wrong direction is the fact that RGB channel switches are now buried inside a drop down menu when previously they were right at the top of the UI and easily available. I really don't understand why anyone thought it was a good idea to hide these and make the user dig around, and it's now added to those types of simple tasks in Maya that require thinking every time "wait is that menu item under View, or Image, or Render?". Previously it was just THERE.

Furthermore, I am currently stuck viewing only a single channel and can't figure out how to get back to displaying all three. Obviously I'm overlooking something, but clearly this is something that should just be obvious.

To return to viewing all three channels, you should re-select them in the same menu. Are hotkey shortcuts for the channel switches satisfactory in your opinion?

I desperately miss the RGB button as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I've logged an improvement request (internal bug-tracker id: VMAYA-10001) to return the channel view buttons in the main UI of the VFB2.
