  • Maya with Vray, crashing with error messages (GPU) ...

    Regarding NVidia Quadro P4000 GPU on Maya 2020, windows 10 Pro'.

    Constant crashes when attempting to render with Maya, especially with the RTX (using GPU) option. The CPU renders are also v slow going when rendering batch render.

    Renders fine (nice and fast) when I render IPR still frames in frame buffer but crashes when I attempt a render sequence or batch render.

    One error message flagged my GPU which is not the most recent iteration although good class NVidia Quadro p4000 which has worked fine with render solutions such as Redshift and powerful for 4K editing in Premiere Pro.

    I have contacted NVidia and also Autodesk support and they referred me back to Chaos Group Support from whom I have not heard back.
    I cannot get through to Chaos group support despite trying via the online support (I wish they had a 'chat support' option since calling them with the time difference and cost is an inconvenience).

    I am hoping that someone can clue me up as to why I am encountering these issues specific to Maya Vray.

    Things I have tried include ...

    1.) Reverting back clean to older driver for the GPU. This had limited success i.e. the render kicked into gear for a while and then the same error messages occurred and it crashed and now it does not start at all yet still works in IPR still frame renders.
    2a.) Have render via CUDA and RTX option. Both fail/crash.
    2b.) I have also tried CPU which renders but for some reason gets very heavy freezing the mouse on occasion which is odd given the relatively small scene size and powerful 14 core / 28 prc CPU and it is fast when using still frame IPR.
    3.) Have tried Bucket and Progressive rendering option - both fail.
    4.) Have tried Render Sequence & Batch Render.
    5.) Have weeded out erroneous textures and nodes via scene optimize and toyed with the various Vray settings etc.
    6.) Have tried resetting my render globals (deleteUI unifiedRenderGlobalsWindow) and building new globals.
    7.) Cleaned out old temp files and optimise updates etc so the systems side of other hardware is all working well.

    Error messages received below:

    // Warning: line 1: V-Ray : Error 700 while intializing context for device Quadro P4000! Device will not be used for rendering!
    // t_opencl_pri(1415) : CUDA error 700 //
    // Error: line 1: V-Ray : [VUtils::VOptix::OptixPipelineWrapper::launch] OptiX error encountered in vray_optix7.cpp[384]. Error Code
    // Error: V-Ray : Render resuming requested, but current settings don't allow resuming //
    // Error: V-Ray : RT engine not yet supported //
