You have control over what is used for Color Picking in Maya,
I have mine set to ACEScg so I can access all saturated Values that this wide Gamut offers
Others would use Utility Linear sRGB .. which is fine as well
By default it uses the View Transform for Color picking which has its own use cases, but could be problematic like what you said

Honestly all of this knoweldge should be well known before using ACES, there is some reading you need to do
Start with Arnold's ACES guide, then check ACESCentral on what you need more info on.. there are plenty of posts about "color picking" in ACES

Next weekend I hope, I will have something out

I feel like the color picker was the last thing I needed to figure out since I now have to have ocio env variable enabled.

Switching that line in the OCIO file to Acescg now gives me a perfect match from color picker colors compared to a solid color texture i made out of photoshop with the same RGB values.

thank you so much for all your help with this and I do look forward to any videos you come out with!

This Aces workflow is really a pain and confusing, I made some progress though but can we ever get the Hypershade to display the VrayMtl swatches in normal colors? it's all too dark. Also all the texture files are displayed darker, they are rendering correct but the swatches are dark.
