  • Volume Grid not loading right

Every time I open a scene with a Volume Grid, the Grid doesn't update its state (seems to be frame 1, no matter where in the timeline I am) unless I manually load the vdb file again. Then the temperature channel mapping is gone and I have to set it again.
    Can eomeone reproduce this behaviour?

    Using Maya 2020.4 and VRay 5, hotfix 3 (v5.00.23 from Apr 20 2021)

    Hello there,

Have you tried setting the project before opening the scene in Maya?
Another thing you can check is where is the cache file set.
Please try those two suggestions and if the problem is still reproducable, do not hesitate to message again.

    Kind Regards,
    Dimitrina

        Hello again,

Can you send a scene and also a video where you are reproducing the problem?

        Kind Regards,
        Dimitrina

            Hello again,

This problem should be fixed if you replace the number of the vdb file sequence with ###.vdb (Example: standart_explosion.####.vdb)

            Kind Regards,
            Dimitrina

                Hello again,

There is a fix which now in the V-Ray 5 builds, which automatically replaces the number of the frame with the # sign, when the first frame of a sequence is selected.
Please check if it works for you with the most current stable build.

                Kind Regards,
                Dimitrina

that's good news! Makes sense that this happens automatically. I can test it nex week when I'm back in the office.
thank you in advance for the quick help on this one!
