  • Light-linking is aways "forgotten" by Vray or causing problems

    Hello,
I'm experiencing in scenes with light-linking, that each time I start rendering, the light linking is forgotten by vray.
For example, light colors were wrong (using the multiply).
I have to toggle in the vray light editor these lights off and on again, and then it is properly loaded. If I don't do that, it seems not to be realized.

In case this is a deeper issue, it would be great to have an "automatic" toggle me off/on setting especially for light linking.
I remember, that I ran often into issues with renderings, where accidentally, also in long sequences, lights weren't correctly rendered.
    This is quite old issue.

    Thanks for considering.

    Hello there,

Is it possible for you to send a scene and a video in which you are able to reproduce this problem?
Can you also send a description of your specs?

    Kind Regards,
    Dimitrina

Yes, I have prepared a reduced file now.
Maya 2020.4 and latest Vray 5 on Windows 10.
I'm always just rendering with CPU

using 2 dome lights and light linking.
The test object looks like in cold light, but when toggling during IPR render it is rendered properly in warm light.

Without IPR it's impossible to render the scene correctly, because bucket rendering can't be toggled.

Actually it's not the complete "light-linking", it's the color multiplier of the linked light not working.
But it must have to do with the light linking, because this issue only comes up with this linked light.

(I had also tried as a workaround to multiply the HDR by an constant before feeding it into the Dome light, but the result looked different: The bright areas were toned stronger than the mid tones, in comparison to the vray color multiplier)
