  • I don't understand the point of the new VFB

I'm likely missing something, but I don't see the point of the new VFB, with corrects and lens flare?

I can get a scene looking ok, however when I save to EXR (all channels to single file), all the adjustments in VFB get stripped out including the lens effects?

Is there a way to save all this? Can we do it in batch as well?

This has been an ongoing discussion on the forums for a while, with some looking for a "what you see is what you get" option out of Vray, so your exr (or whatever format) and passes reflect actually what you see in the framebuffer. The "correct?" workflow (especially for animations) is to render fully linear, and save out your VFB colour corrections into a LUT, and apply that in your post processing software (Nuke / AE). Your lens fx will also be in the multi channel exr, which you shuffle out in Nuke and add that back into your comp.

If you batch render or save direct from VFB to png, the VFB does "bake" the colour corrections into your render. It doesnt do the same for the passes. I think Vray next used to apply VFB colour corrections to exrs saved from the VFB, but for some reason that functionality has gone. Also, there are a few threads on the topic of people helpfully offering alternative VFB workflows and LUTs to help streamline this process.
