  • VRscenes in Geometry mode renders wrong

    Hi,

    I'm using Maya 2020 and Vray 5, update 1.1

As you can see in the attached images if i use the VRscenes in geometry mode, they render flat, they doesn't receive shadows, nor from other objects nor from themselves.

in the images, the car body are separate objects with an Vray shader, the rest of the car are VRscene, the left in "Geometry" mode, the right in "All" mode

The plants are in "Geometry" mode in one image (they doesn't receive shadows) and in "All" mode in the other image

This is really a worrying issue, the only way to use VRscenes with particle instancing is in Geometry mode, I can translate the object from Max to Maya manually and fine tune the shaders to have them in maya, but... we have bought some libraries in Max that we use in Maya in VRscene, this can be a huge effort

In any case, the Maya shapes that contains more than one shader assigned, only the first shader assigned is rendered for the whole object if you use them for particle instancing.... I need to convert them to Vray Proxies to be able to use them.

Any idea to solve these issues??

    best regards

    Roberto

It is a bug, which has already been fixed in the latest V-Ray for Maya internal nightly builds. I'll notify the developers to pick up the fix for the next stable nightly build as soon as possible.
