  • Proxys on render layers

    Hi folks.
I have 100's of plants in my scene as proxy's.
I need to create a clay render for client. I have added to render layer collection with material override, but this doest effect the proxy's they still have full colour.
Any ideas on how to get them as grey?

I presume the VRayProxies are legacy ones. Try converting them to the new VRayProxy node (V-Ray>Tools>Convert to new V-Ray Proxy node) and it should work.

EDIT: Actually it works on both types. Does it happen with a specific proxy? What V-Ray version are you utilizing? A scene would be lovely.

I cant really share a scene file but here is a screen shot. Using Maya 2022.2 and latest VRay so using the new proxy node.
I have tried to add an override to the group "Aglaonema_01"
What am I missing or not understanding properly? It's very probably user error here..Thanks

Ah, you're using these Shader Overrides. They work differently for .vrmesh and .abc - Shader overrides for .vrmeshes override by material; Shader overrides for alembics override by geometry. I've already pinged the Documentation Team to update the docs since it is not written there. Simply using the regular hierarchy "Override Shader" seems like the easiest solution.
