  • Maya optimise scene size deletes Volume fog

When Im working up a scene, I often work fast and a bit messy. Once lighting is dialed in, and I need to setup renders Ill do some house keeping and clean all the lights out and textures I didnt use. Optimise scene in Maya is very useful for that. Ive found recently that it deletes vray volume fog, even though its connected and active. Maya optimise scene is meant to only remove junk and disconnected nodes.

Yeah it’s been like this ever since, it’s annoying, I just save a preset before optimizing, I don’t know why it gets deleted

Well it 's not broken, it has always been like this by design, so now is more like a request for them to make an improvement.

Since VRayEnvironmentFog acts as a set (which without a gizmo is empty), it is removed if the "Remove empty Sets" checkbox in the Optimize Scene option is ticked. Simply untick the option prior to Optimizing and all should be fine.
