While the docs say it's supported, I can't appear to render USDPreviewSurface in the VRAY Renderer. When I render the mesh is black. There are lights in the scene, I've tried Vray and Maya standard lights. Is anyone else having this issue?

So I ran some more tests and found that USDPreviewSurface only works when the data is imported/referenced as USD data on a USD layer. If you make a cube in Maya and assign a USDPreviewSurface it doesn't work (renders black), and if you export that same cube and import it (not to a USD stage/layer) then it still won't render. Is this the expected behavior? I would love to be able to render USDPreveiwSurface on Maya geometry.
