  • The source attribute 'VRayAlSurface1.outColor' cannot be found in Maya - plus maya crashes

I'm having a weird issue with the latest V-ray for maya 2022.3 on macOS 10.14.6. Either V-ray is not installing properly or I don't know what. When I try to create a 'VRayAlSurfacer' shader I get an error saying: "Error: line 0: The source attribute 'VRayAlSurface1.outColor' cannot be found." Basically, what's happening is that the VRayAlSurface node doesn't connect to the VRayAlSurfaceSG node automatically because it can't find the ".outColor" channel for that VRayAlSurface node and when I checked, lo and behold it actually doesn't have one. I've tried uninstalling maya and V-ray and reinstalling everything from scratch and still no luck. On top of that anytime I try to render a simple sphere and plane with a directional light with just basic lambert shaders in V-ray, Maya crashes every single time. I even tried using V-ray specific shaders and lights and the minute I created the light maya crashed. I really don't know what's going on here. I can't help, but think that this shader issue is a sign of something fundamentally wrong with the installation or a bug in V-ray with maya 2022.3 on macOS Mojave. Or possibly something else I can't figure out.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to solve this issue? Because as it stands right now V-ray is basically broken and unusable for me.

    Thanks

Found a solution: I reinstalled "vray_adv_51022_maya2022" and now everything works fine, there must be something wrong with the "vray_adv_52001_maya2022" update installation, but I'm not not sure what. All I know is that it causes problem on my machine. Don't know if this a bug or something else. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.
