So as my scene gets bigger and bigger, I have more and more mesh lights. I'm wondering if I can somehow create a parent light for the rest inside of Vray. It gets ridiculous inside of the light mix having light after light that are the same. I checked the documentation and it doesn't mention anything about light grouping. All I want is to somehow combine all these lights into a single object OR somehow link them together.

You can use the 'group' setting in the lightselect element. Or you could instance lights, but the problem with that, is that you lose any viewport feedback on the instanced light, with it just appearing as a tiny dot...whic h i think is a maya bug.Last edited by francomanko; 09-04-2022, 08:52 AM.

Okay, I reproduced the issue, and it seems to be a bug in Maya since it happens when instancing Arnold lights too. Maybe it is because of this limitation: "Instanced lights have no effect."
Instanced V-Ray Lights do work, though. I'll ask the devs if we can do something about the preview on our end.Last edited by hermit.crab; Today, 01:19 AM.
