  • triplanar texture bump plus Maya texture reference = no bump

I'm having an issue with the triplanar node in Maya that breaks all bump mapping and coat bump mapping as soon as a 3D Texture Reference object is assigned to the object. This does not happen with 3D volume bump textures, just when it is used with the vray triplanar node and a 2D image or 2D procedural. I want to be able to deform objects while using triplanar for bump mapping so the bump mapping follows the object deformation correctly.

We've had issues with Texture Referencing concerning triplanar mapped displacement, the source cause of which may be related. I'll investigate further and write back.

EDIT: Just so you know - I've linked the issue to a previous log (internal bug-tracker id: VMAYA-11086). We'll be investigating.
