  • Bercon Noise fractal settings cant be animated?

Im getting only "lock attribute" options on a lot of bercon noise map settings...specifically the Noise Fractal drop down. Is this normal? Im trying to animate the Lacunarity slider to pump some variety into some area lights driving some fog, but I cant seem to set keyframes.

Ive dropped a float constant into the things I want to keyframe, and Im keyframing that instead, so Im still getting the animation I need.

Glad you've found a workaround. I've made a note about the issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAYA-11346).

Cheers for logging that... Ive got another question about bercon maps...Im using them with volume fog, as a texture map in an area light to make some funky stuff, but Im finding they get jaggy when theyre at a large size...is there a way to still scale up a map without the jagged edges? Or is there a way to sample the bercon maps higher so theyre smooth even at large scales? Currently my size parameter is at 10,000. As you can see in the images, the edges of the light being cast is super jagged.

I presume you need to manipulate the Raymarching settings (lower step size and more texture samples) to get a better result.

Its actually just about the bercon map itself. If I scale the map up and try to get close to it, there isnt any sampling options to smooth out the map. Im assuming its not designed for getting that close? This render has no fog, its just a bercon map in an area light being pointed at the ground.

You can resolve this by increasing the Texture Resolution in the VRayLight settings. This should be analogous to the Raymarching settings I mentioned earlier.

Oh cool, I dont think I ever knew that texture res setting was there in an area light. Ill try that out, cheers!
