  • Can't Disable bumpNormals Pass

    New user.

V-Ray is rendering a bumpNormals pass in Batch Render, despite it not being a Render Element. My only Render Element is vrayRE_Denoiser.

I tried deliberately adding it and the deleting it, in case a flag was tripped somewhere, but it must be selected somewhere else. Any help?

    Thanks,

    _Mike

    Hello new user

    a question

that will not be one of the render pass necessary to calculate the denoiser right?

    here original info about thats:
    Required Render Elements

The required render elements are listed below. Add the VRayDenoiser or Denoiser Render Element to your scene to generate the necessary render elements automatically. The standalone denoiser will still run when some or all of these render elements are missing, but results might be too blurry.

    For single pass RGB denoising:
    • Noise level (named noiseLevel) - The denoiser relies heavily on this render element to provide information used during the denoising operation.
    • Defocus amount (named defocusAmount)
    • World positions (named worldPositions or wpp)
    • World normals with bump mapping (named worldNormals)
    • Diffuse filter (named diffuseFilter or VRayDiffuseFilter)
    • Reflection filter (named reflectionFilter or VRayReflectionFilter)
    • Refraction filter (named refractionFilter or VRayRefractionFilter)
is one of these render element?

Well this is what's confusing, because the ONLY Render Element I have in the list is the Denoiser, so if all of these are necessary to denoise, I'm not sure why they're 1) not automatically populated in the list and/or 2) not generating a pass. There are no passes for these "required elements" being rendered. I am rendering GPU, in case that's a factor.

        Hello !!!

how you have config the VRay Denoiser ??? So in attributes go to Mode:

Mode – Specifies how the results of VRayDenoiser will be saved.

Only generate render elements – All render elements required for denoising are generated so that denoising can be done with the Standalone Denoise Tool or the V-Ray Denoiser plugin for Nuke. The information calculated within them is not applied to other render elements, and no VRayDenoiser Render Element is generated.
Hide denoiser element – The VRayDenoiser channel is not present separately in the VFB. The effectsResult channel is generated with the denoised image.
Show denoiser element – The VRayDenoiser Render Element is generated to contain a denoised version of the RGB Color Render Element using the specified settings. The original render elements, including the RGB Color Render Element, are not changed

you have selected: Only generate renders elements ??

They're internally populated. As intercard said the VRayDenoiser pass depends on the chosen mode.

The required elements depend on the Denoiser engine. In the Intel Open Image denoiser case, only albedo and bumpNormals are required.

Okay, I gotcha. My mode is "Show denoiser element" - NVIDIA AI denoiser. My GPU is made up of 3 NVIDIA A5000s.

What I said above concerns the NVIDIA denoiser as well.
