dome light texture looks great normally, but when you out it through a maya colour correct node, it crushes the quality. Is there a way to fix this that Ive missed?

In V-Ray 6 for Maya, hotfix 1 you can find improvement in the viewport resolution of VRayDomeLight when texture goes through intermediate nodes. The resolution is affected by viewport shader quality presets in V-Ray Settings->Settings->V-Ray UI. After changing the preset you should click on "Toggle pausing viewport 2 display update" which will refresh the texture and change the resolution. We have logged an additional issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAYA-11734) to make it update automatically after changing the preset.Neli Dourtcheva

I had to desaturate a HDR ( since ACES blue skies turn really Cyan in viewport)... and noticed that this blurry effect is not fixed in VRAY 5 latest build when piping any color correction node to VrayDome. This request is quite old already, any update on this or bump priority?
Thanks

Hi Neli, thanks for the update, unfortunately I just grabbed the latest build this morning and the Dome is still blurry.
The viewport clamp texture resolution is off, I've loaded an 8K hdr in the dome texture and it shows crispy, but then I use a Maya HSV node and the image is blurred out as before. The vray color correction doesn't even show the image at all if plugged into texture.
Please see the images I just tested.Maya 2033.3 Windows 11 RTX4070

Also I followed your suggestion Vray UI>Viewport shader quality and set it to "HIGH" (which is still different from Vray6)...and that had no effect , also tried and refreshed the file swatch and HDR still blurry.
The Vray color correction node also still displays the entire Viewport as grey, is this node not supported or supposed to be connected to a Dome?Last edited by damaggio; 13-03-2023, 12:43 PM.

Otherwise, the grey background issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAYA-11978 ) is fixed in V-Ray 6, however, it's not yet picked for V-Ray 5.
