I'm really hoping this has actually gotten fixed in later versions of Vray -- I'm still on version 5.
BUT, I am still seeing the VFB render COMPLETELY the wrong resolution when opening a scene. My ACTUAL resolution is 4096 x 3024. The test resolution button does NOT appear to be in the "on" position, but shows 50%. Top left shows "[400.0% of 1024 x 756]", and this appears to be the resolution that's getting rendered. So not ONLY is the VFB rendering at test resolution while the button shows it's OFF, it's not even rendering at the resolution that the button is showing (1024 x 756 is 25% resolution, not 50%).
Please fix this issue, it's been around for years.
