  • Vray Lights hiding in viewport until I select them

Hi! I'm running Vray for Maya 5.

The Vray lights often disappear from my viewport in Maya, until I select them back in the outliner.

    Running v5.20.01

Is this a bug or an option I just have to uncheck somewhere?

    Appreciate any help!!

Any unticked visibility options in the Light's Object Display? What are you seeing in the viewport when you select the light in the outliner? Best you attach a simple scene (just the light), where the issue is happening so we can take a look.

Hi, just to add that if nothing else works you could also open a ticket so we can try to help with remote session.

Hey guys! Thanks for the answers.

This happens to all my scenes randomly, without fail. No matter how simple it is.

I was curious if this was a common issue, but seems it may have something to do with my inherited Maya prefs.
Haven't found a pattern yet, but may be happening every time I group the lights.

I'll keep testing and report back when this happens in a test scene

I have the same experiences since vray 6. Must be a bug.

This is a well known bug that has been reported multiple times by numerous people all describing the same behavior. I'm not sure why Chaos's response is to ask for scenes or further description of the problem like they don't know about it. This is obviously a chronic issue with Vray in Maya.

Hey! Thanks SonyBoy, good to know it's probably not my scene or settings but just a bug. Not a deal breaker but just really annoying.

Here's a couple screenshots of the issue and the scene (which doesn't matter much. Happens to all my scenes)

              Thanks guys!!!

Thanks for the provided scene. It had a malware script on it, which you should clean. And it very well might be the reason for the disappearances. From my tests, it seems the issue is resolved if I manually open the file and untick the "Execute script nodes" option in the General options tab. Could you try that (after you clean the scene with Maya Scanner)?

Clearly this is not the root cause of this issue.

I suppose so, but I can't seem to reproduce it on a fresh scene.
