  • Zdepth no longer going to infinity, bg is clamped to 1

Using vray v6.00.04 and Maya 2023, the zdepth pass clamps the background color to 1 instead of inf.

We have it set up so that the depth accurately calculated distance from camera using the scene units. However, the BG renders as 1.

Was this an intentional change or a bug?

Activating the "Force Black At Infinity" option should solve it.

Thanks for the tip, is the intention that we then convert black to inf in nuke via expression?
and just so I can relay it to the team, what was the reason for this change?

Some users wished for more control through the option to choose between 1 and 0 for infinity values. This change was implemented back in V-Ray NEXT.
