  • Global Illumination Bug

    Hi all,

I'm encountering an issue where the GI is super bright and concentrated where two objects meet. I've got a product placed on a white floor and it seems like the GI is glowing where the two objects meet. Might anybody know how to fix this?

Using Vray 5 Update 2.2, Maya 2023, ACES 1.2. It seems to do it when using either light cache or brute force.

Lighting Pass: - this looks a bit odd, you can see that there's a bit of a halo where the objects meet whereas it should be almost black.

Best you send the scene so we can troubleshoot.

Thank you for sharing the scene. We have identified two issues that are affecting the illumination. The first issue is the open geometry of the studio plane, which we do not recommend because of such light leaking problems. The second issue is that the object is slightly intersecting with the floor, causing light from beneath to affect the space under the object. We recommend adding thickness to the plane to fix the scene.
