Won't render subdivision if mesh light or VrayLight Mat

Haven't experienced this before. Very weird.

Here I have to cubes with subdivision on both. The left is plain Vray Matarial, the right is Vray Light material. Same goes if I make the box a mesh light.

Can anyone replicate this?

Windows 10, Maya 2023.3.1, vray 6.20.02

just tested with vray v6.20.24 and got same result

edit: Same with Maya 2025.3, latest vray version

Made a fresh scene and it's fine now. I have no explanation to why.
