  • hair width control with USD in Maya

Hi, I have a USD stage coming from Houdini into Maya. It has a geometry and a hair groom (basis curves)
I am able to use the point attrubutes/primvars in lookdev X to control material aspect of the hair like melanin or other mappable attributes.

What I can't really seem to control is scaling the thickness of the hairs. I have exported a width attribute from Houdini and from the get-go this seems to be ignored in Maya,
meaning I get infinitesimally small width at rendertime. I can't seem to attach any attributes from Vray in the Attribute Editor/Attributes.

I also tried to add a primitive to the USD stage that supposedly has control over given curves' width or thickness, but this just adds that node to wherever you right clicked on the USD stage's hierarchy.
This node in no way speaks to the groom curve's node, if I parent it to the groom changing the thickness, I get no effect and going the other way, trying to parent the curves under the VrayGeomHair node is not possible.

Please if anyone has a solution or advise in any way, that would be very helpful, thanks!

Can you post the scene or a repro of the USD file.
