light selects not exporting?

I'm on v-ray version 6.20.24, in Maya 2025.2 at work

When I select lights and light selects from the outliner, and go file/export, the light selects don't get exported, just the lights. I'm pretty sure they used to get exported in older versions of v-ray, or am I not remembering this correctly?

I don't have access to many other versions of V-ray at work to test older or newer versions.


Does v-ray 7 export the light selects like older versions used to? haven't moved to 7 just yet.

It should work as expected if you export through the Render Elements tab. Like so:
1. Select all VRayLightSelects from the Outliner
2. Go to Render Settings > Render Elements > Save
3. Reopen the file

ahh, ok, so when I save from the render elements tab, I have to have them selected in the outliner, not in the render elements area. That seems to work! Thanks! I swear the selects used to export when I just had the lights selected and doing a regular file/export, but this works. and importing back in through the render elements also works. Thanks for the hand holding
