  • VFB background color not saving

I have a background color I want saved into the RGB from the VFB. This has always worked in the past simply by checking "Save in Image". The alpha will still be there but in RGB I'll get the white background, so bringing it into comp with alpha ignored will mean the white background shows.

This is now not happening -- even with this checked, I still get a black background in RGB

What image format are you outputting to and how are you previewing the image?

      EXR.

Images are not retaining background, viewed in Photoshop, After Effects (with alpha ignored) or DJV Viewer confirm it.

Seems to work fine on a simple scene (attached) when previewed through ChaosPlayer. Mind if you share your own?

You forgot to turn on the "Save ColorCorrections to Raw Files (.exr and .vrimg)" option in the Image format options (Common > Image File Output).

Turning it on anywhere except in the VFB has definitively not been necessary in the past to have it save to the image when rendering into the VFB, so at best you're either mistaken or Vray's behavior in this regard is inconsistent. I know this to be a fact, as I wasn't even aware of the setting in the file type options until recently, and have previously saved the background color to RGB ONLY by checking the "Save in Image" setting in the VFB. I've even done this by accident in the past.

Also, I'm not sure that "Save Color Corrections" in the file type even includes the set background color in the VFB (because it isn't a color correction). You'll notice that the VFB has a separate "Save in Images" checkbox for the Display Corrections layer and the Background layer (that is there are TWO checkboxes).
