  • VRayFastSSS2 inverted colors

I sometimes get really strange results when using VRayFastSSS2.
For example if I expect the backscatter color to be red it sometimes gets green??
It seems like the color is getting inverted.

The relation is somewhat similar between that of the reflection and diffuse colors of a VRayMtl (the reflection color will change the look of the underlying diffuse color).

So if you have the "subsurface color" set to blue, and the "scatter color" to grey, you may actually get a yellowish tint inside the object, as the sub-surface color (which is "closer" to the surface) takes the blue component away - see the attachments. In your case, since you end up with a greenish result, you can simply reduce the green component of the "scatter color" (the inside one).

    Best regards,

        ... Another question.
If I want a texture for just the backscatter, where should I put it?

There is no separate control of back scattering; you only have the sub-surface and scatter colors. Since the fastsss2 is physically based, the backscattering follows naturally from these two parameters.
