  • Render logs extremely long

    I'm finding the render logs to be extremely long, updating the render status every 0.2s and making the logs a mile long for renders that take over an hour. I noticed that the percentage complete updates were less frequent and more manageable (every 10%) when I did a local render vs one on the farm.

    Is there some means of restraining the log files from printing an update so frequently?

    If you are rendering through the standalone, you can use the -showProgress option to disable the printing of the progress calculations.

    Best regards,

      Thanks for the quick reply!

      Even with -showProgress=1 there are still updates every 0.2s. What is the expected difference with that toggle?

        -showProgress=n - specifies whether calculations progress should be
        printed to the standard output: 0 - do not display progress;
        1 - display progress only if verboseLevel is > 0; 2 - always.
        (default is 1)

        So, the issue I have isn't with the verbosity level, it's with the rate of update. I *want* to see progress updates and error messages, I just find it unusual to have a log file writing every 0.2s. If the job runs for 2 hours, thats 36,000 lines in the log for percentage complete!
        Whay triggers vray to give an update and is there a means of reducing the frequency?

        Thanks for the help!
