  • Bug - Multimatte Build 10915 (core 19003)

If you have 3 spheres , and a group..

Each sphere different Object ID, 1, ,2, 3

and we make a "vray properties " on the group w Object ID 100

    Create 2 multimattes :
    Multimatte1 - ID Red 1, ID Green 2 ,ID Blue 3 Multimatte2 ID Red 100

The 2nd multimatte renders black, wonder if you guys are aware.

Do you have an example scene for this?

Each instance will first look for an object id within the shape. If that's not present the search will continue up the hierarchy until one is found. So in this case the 3 spheres correctly get the object IDs 1, 2 and 3. So, that's the intended behavior. From what I understand you want to have the spheres simultaneously have two object IDs ? So both render elements wouldn't be black ?

Yep, Object 1, 2,3 is correct..
(those are done with Object ID on the transform node)

Now i want to group the spheres and add a "Vray property" to the group.

That Object ID i set to "100" or "4"

        and make a new Multimatte.....

So i have 2 multimattes, 1 with IDs 1, 2,3 (in red, blue and green)
and 1 with ID 100 in Red..

        Then i get black

Yep, that's the expected behavior, each object can have only one object id currently. So the spheres get object IDs 1, 2 and 3, and the the group object id is ignored in this case. I'll write this down as a feature request.

No, I don't think it ever worked; object IDs have always been one per object.
