  • Vray not in plugins manager

OK We have installed maya 2011 with vray latest build in the studio and all is working fine except my pc. Vray does not appear in the plugin manager.
What could possibly be hindering the vray install exe.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Steve

Did you have other versions of V-Ray installed before that? Also, which operating system are you using?

      Best regards,

Yes 2010 is also installed and we are using windows7 x64 we have to have Maya 2010 and 2011 as we are crossing over maya versions.
All other pc in the studio also run both versions of maya with vray

Ok then; is the version of V-Ray for Maya 2010 the same, or an older one? There are two things that I can think of:

          1) Some file has remained from a previous installation (e.g. vray.dll in the /maya/bin folder);
          2) Some path to a different Maya version is added to the PATH system variable causing the wrong DLL to be picked up.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Here are the environment variables which is the same for Maya 2010. maya 2010 works fine by the way just 2011 has this issue
There was an older version of vray for maya 2010 which has now been update I made sure there was no old files left after un install.

            VRAY_FOR_MAYA2011_MAIN_x64
            C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011/vray

            VRAY_FOR_MAYA2011_PLUGINS_x64
            C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011/vray/vrayplugins

using the latest build from website for maya 2010 install and the latest nighlty for 2011.

Yes, looks ok to me, very odd. Is the vrayformaya.mll file actuall where it is looking for it (C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2011/vray/plug-ins/vrayformaya.mll)? Also are the vray.dll, cgauth.dll and libmmd.dll files in the Maya "bin" folder?

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

OK we think we have a missing file. cgauth.dll is missing from my maya>bin folder. Can I install vray to a temp folder so I can copy this missing file accross?

Yes, but I guess you can just reinstall V-Ray...

we have all the files you mentioned in the right places apart from cgauth.dll which is in the vray>bin folder and not Maya>bin folder as you mentioned in last post. can you confirm which folder is correct?
We have reinstalled many times and reinstalled Maya. We have also compared the number and names of files and all sem to be the same as all the other machines.

                            FIXED
We have copied over the vray folder from another pc in the studio and replaced mine and now it appears in the plugins manager.
