  • Tiff and transparency

when I save a tiff with layers and transparency in photoshop then plug the texture into a maya lambert, for example and choose 'default' it automatically plugs the tiff into the color and transparency giving a nice cutout.

with the vray material, will it recognize the transparency of the tiff, when I plug it into the opacity slot? From the looks of it, it does not. the opacity slot is only looking for a black/white image. This is unfortunate because I would rather not hassle with making a black/white image, plus it always seems when I do make a black/white image, it never is an exact match, which is not good. any suggestions?

    thanks!

You should be able to connect the output alpha of the image to the RGB components (all 3 of them) of the opacity slot in the V-Ray material.
