I have a small issue that I ran into with image files (and also i notice on the checker texture) as well. I have some pretty funky geometry that was converted from cad so there are lots of small thin triangles. not ideal.

I use automatic UV mapping to layout some uv's so i can put my texture on this part.

I notice that for some reason i get an odd grey splotch in the texture map.
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...bb/texture.jpg
so i put a basic checker texture on the model and it still renders with the grey splotch
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...bb/checker.jpg
so i render the model with maya software render to see if it was a texture or a uv issue and it renders fine with no splotch

so i go back to vray i to put a cloth texture on the model and the grey splotch is gone.

so i think maybe this must be a filtering issue.
so i go back to the file texture and turn the filter from quadratic (default) to "off" and the grey splotch is gone.
so im assuming this is because the filtering is trying to blend between these long thin triangles but perhaps someone can expand a bit more what the problem is. also i dont think there is an option to turn OFF the filter on a maya checker node because its not an attribute i can control. so i have to turn off the global filter maps. which maybe isnt exactly what I would want to do in an ideal case.
