  • Switch Utilities ignored using Vray Proxies

when shading with a triple switch utility (assigning different texture maps to different geo using the same shader) and creating vray proxy, the texture connections to the geometry break. Using VrayMtl piped into VRay2sidedMTL

This was supposed to be working; can you tell me which version of V-Ray you are using?

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

The service pack just released. 1.5R1 for Maya on Windows 7

        [2010/Jun/22|10:12:27] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 1.50.SP1 from Jun 11 2010, 16:17:33
        [2010/Jun/22|10:12:27] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 1.90.03

the VRayMTL pipes into the slot on the VRayMeshMaterial for it, but it ignores the triple switch and assigns the default color within the triple switch to all surfaces

When exporting the meshes to a proxy file, did you use the "Export all selected objects in a single file" option ? In that case V-Ray will remove the exported shapes from the scene and replace them with a new one for all the shapes combined. Naturally the connections to anything, including the switch utilities texture, will break, as the shapes are no longer there. So the switch texture will no longer work. The only solution would be to export with the "Export each selected object in a separate file" option.

I did use 'export to single file' option. I wasn't thinking about the behind the scenes mesh combination. Thanks for the clarification, I'll be sure to use the 'object to serparate file' option when depending on shape dependent nodes. Thanks.
