I agree, just today we were wishing this was possible... Some simple moves are much faster to do in comp with a radial blur or something to that effect. So when you have a shot where the object motion is complex and the camera is not, you can offset the camera motion blur to comp, or discard it when it's not helping.
I was hoping for the possibilies of motion blur by object too, I have a good exemple: I have a arch scene with fountain done with a simple superspray particles, but it work good only with the motion blur on for the particles, if I want motion blur for the scene and camera Ill do it with the velocity channel and rsmb. For now I guess I will need to render another pass with a standard camera with the motion blur active for the particles.
